Friends of the Airfield and the Valley (FAV) is a cross-community group established under the auspices of Wilbarston Parish Council. We represent a collective of local residents from Wilbarston, Stoke Albany, Pipewell, East Carlton, and Desborough who are concerned with the future of our local landscape.
Our Mission:
Our primary goal is to ensure that every member of our community has access to clear, and easy-to-understand information regarding the proposed 99.9MW solar farm and 100MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the former RAF Desborough Airfield.
We believe that an informed community is an empowered one. Rather than telling residents what to think, we provide the resources and updates necessary for individuals to form their own educated opinions and engage effectively with the planning process.
Our Commitment:
We are dedicated to:
- Transparency: Sharing the latest project developments and planning documents as they become available.
- Education: Helping residents understand the broader technology of solar energy and battery storage, beyond just this specific proposal.
- Community Voice: Encouraging everyone in Wilbarston, surrounding villages (Stoke Albany, Pipewell, East Carlton), the town of Desborough, and the wider Welland Valley who may be impacted by this proposal to make their views known.
We encourage you to explore our website to learn more about the technology behind solar farms and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and what these developments mean for our local area.
